The Space Between

This sculpture explores childhood trauma, disassociation, and the challenge of connecting with one’s younger self. Growing up, adults often claimed to understand or offer help, yet true comprehension of the experience felt impossible. The work reflects the gap between past and present perspectives, illustrating how memory can fragment and obscure moments of abuse. By engaging with this distance, the sculpture invites reflection on resilience, self-compassion, and the complex process of understanding one’s past while navigating the emotional and psychological traces that continue into adulthood.
