No One's Fault, No One's Responsibility

Date

2025

Dimensions

30” x 80”

Medium

Oil on Wooden Door

This painting addresses childhood sexual abuse and the ways children cope when support is absent. It reflects on the use of escapism and imagination as strategies to survive harm and create internal safety. The work considers how responsibility can go unclaimed within systems of neglect and how trauma shapes memory, identity, and perception. By focusing on both vulnerability and the strategies used to endure it, the work examines the tension between lived experience and the internal worlds children build to navigate trauma.
